History of the Department
Garhbeta college got the affiliation in Commerce to the Degree (Pass) level with effect from 1983-84 by the Govt. of West Bengal.
The college was then affiliated with the University of Calcutta. A few years later the college got permission to teach in Honours in Accountancy.
The college has now 150 seats for general students and 70 seats for Honours in Accounting and Finance.
The college as well as the Dept. of Commerce is now affiliated with the Vidyasagar University.
The department is enriched with a sufficient number of faculty members, books, journals etc.
